Incorporating the concept of feng shui in your bedroom is an important step to take as a way of investing in better sleep, a way of creating positive energy around your personal space too as the practice is believed to hold the ability to help an individual harmonise energy flow in his/her space, attract good luck too and everyone fancies goodluck so why not.
In this article, i’ll provide a break down on how Feng Shui relates to interior decor. Although, some people hold an opinion that the practice is an ancient myth. However, ancient and false or not, a Feng Shui pattern helps in improving the interior decor of a bedroom to fit a minimalist profile at the same time improve health and attract positive vibes and that counts as enough reason to incorporate the practice.
The first step to identify in Feng Shui are the five elements which Feng Shui divides the world into.
Balancing the five elements in Feng Shui practice is important to achieve the minimalist profile and the essence of this post is to provide an insight on how to balance the elements.
1. PICKING THE RIGHT COLOURS
Creating a cozy atmosphere in the bedroom is the first step and finding the right colours to help achieve this coziness is important, Feng Shui suggests natural skin tones rather than overly bright, sharp colours.
Tones like grey, peach, tan, white, copper, cream, coral or soft colours like lavenders, light blue, tend to provide tranquility and a sense of purity.
Colour variations such as pink, red, burgundy, pomegranate can be fixed in as props like, artifacts, throw pillows to spice up the room as a means of drawing in a romantic energy.
In conclusion, simply pick the best colours that appeal to you while making sure that they do not contradict one another, because remember you are trying to create a well ordered space to improve positivity and better sleep.
2. ROOM ARRANGEMENT
Feng Shui principle suggests having either a queen or king sized bed. Aside size, bed positioning is another important aspect to consider when setting up your bedroom. Invest in a bed with solid headboard because headboard represents stability which is one of the features of the concept. Bedside drawers on both sides of the bed is a necessity.
In a typical Feng Shui setting, the bed should be placed in a commanding position, not positioned directly opposite the room entrance to ensure that you can keep sight of the entrance while relaxing but not in a manner where your feet points out the door.
Having a mirror in your bedroom is not entirely ruled out as this represents the water element in Feng Shui, however if you must have a mirror in your bedroom, ensure it is not placed directly opposite your bed as having it at that position might be distracting. Also, invest in healthy plants with amazing health and aesthetic benefits, when plants show signs of dying or look unhealthy, put them out, provide special attention to them, take them back indoors only when they begin to bloom again.
3. MAINTAINING ORDERLINESS
I understand how relaxing it can be to lie on the bed, while watching your favourite tv programme or movie but having electronics in the bedroom especially television opposes the entire Feng Shui essence.
Books stimulate our minds and keep us active, since you desire better sleep, it’s best to avoid having stacks of books in your room. Clustering books in the bedroom is a ‘No No’ in Feng Shui, only keep books you are currently reading in the bedroom.
Doors should be shut at all times. Invest in bright lights to provide extra lightning as the concept supports bright lightening. Light scented candles from time to time to purify the atmosphere too while providing a calm source of lightening.
4. SANITIZING YOUR SPACE
Make sure your room is sparkling clean 24/7 not leaving out under the bed, a lot of people are guilty of neglecting that part of the room. Declutter your wardrobe from time to time, an over-stuffed room contradicts the practice. Broken or damaged stuffs should be thrashed or kept out of the room.
In conclusion, Feng Shui might be an outdated or false myth, but the fact that following the Feng Shui guidelines in setting up your bedroom provides tranquility, improves productivity and positivity cannot be denied and tranquility is necessary for improved mental/physical performance.
